The Economics Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (ERIPT) is a long-standing research and training institution with a rich history in the field of Information and Communications.

ERIPT, as it is known today, originated from the Economics Research and Planning Institute of Posts and Telecommunications, which was established under Decision No. 812/QĐ dated May 28, 1975, by the Director General of the General Department of Post and Telecommunications. On January 1, 1980, the institute was renamed the Economics Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications under Decision No. 2308/QĐ dated December 20, 1979.

Following the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 516/TTg (July 11, 1997) establishing the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), the Economics Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications was reorganized as part of PTIT. This reorganization was implemented through decisions by the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group’s Board of Directors (No. 229/QD-TCCB/HĐQT, September 9, 1997) and its General Director (No. 635/QD-TCCB-LD, March 22, 1999).

In 2014, as part of the transformation of the Academy, ERIPT was transferred from the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group to the Ministry of Information and Communications by Decision No. 878/QĐ-BTTTT dated June 27, 2014. During this process, ERIPT was affirmed as a research and training unit directly under PTIT, in accordance with the temporary Organization and Operation Regulations of the Academy, issued under Decision No. 1766/QĐ-BTTTT dated November 25, 2014.

In 2016, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued Decision No. 879/QD-BTTTT on July 25, 2016, which included the Organization and Operation Regulations of Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. According to this decision, Economics Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications is part of scientific and technological organizations, offering training services, consulting, technology transfer, production, and business operations, in line with the regulations outlined in Decision No. 673/QD-HV on July 25, 2016, by the Director of Economics Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications.

Over the past 50 years, ERIPT has consistently excelled in its assigned missions, receiving numerous awards and commendations from the sector. With a team of experienced researchers possessing high ethical standards and professional expertise, the institute remains dynamic, creative, and quick to adopt new knowledge, contributing significantly to the development of the sector and society in the era of international economic integration.
